World Challenge: Day 9
This is the last day of project phase.
Hopefully we will have used this time to improve our fitness, visiting Leh palace and just generally walking around. Leh sits at 3500m so just walking is actually harder work than it sounds.

We’re still on project phase , without knowing masses of detail about the project I don’t have much to write. So I thought I’d share some stuff about the Ladakhi people (the area of India we are in)

I’ve taken some notebooks and pens to give to the local kids and a few photos of me and my family to show them :)

Our work will involve creating an outside play area for the children at the centre.

I don’t really know how to summarise today so I’ll copy straight from the itenerary:

Today we arrive in delhi and spend the day here. When we arrive our hotel is already booked.
Today will be spent largely sorting our money and documents out, confirming bookings for transport etc.
World Challenge: Day 1
Today is build up day , we’ll spend the day at school sorting the group gear , having a final run through of plans and some more team building stuff. We go by coach to Heathrow airport to fly out to Delhi at 20:45.
Flight number: 9w121
Delhi is 5.5 hours ahead of London and the flight is about 7.5 hours.
So I just sat and lined up in my queue two posts a day whilst I’m in India.
One gives a brief explanation of where I am and what I’m doing in India. The other is just a random selection of photos , videos, and music.

They approved my application for Scout Leader
They didn’t ask about religion so I didn’t tell.
They asked me what I thought about equal opportunities and how good scouting was at it , I decided to bite my tongue on the atheism issue so they didn’t refuse me and just talked about women and disabeled kids.
I’m planning to write some letters to head quarters and the british humanist association etc about the atheism...
On thursday I go and have a meeting with the scouts district appointments commitee , basically it’s an interview panel to make sure I’m right to be a leader etc.

Day 23 - What do you think about thinspo
It’s nasty.
But eating disorders are a mental disorder. The girls never chose it to be this way, society is in the wrong for pushing this image. Not the girls for seeking comfort in thinspo and using it to help them feel better.

Generally yes. I prefer land of hope and glory but that’s a side issue.
Day 21- What do you think about the death penalty.
An eye for an eye and the whole world goes blind.
I used to be pro death penalty. Not anymore, The prison system is crap but at least it’s ethical.
Day 20 - What do you think about plastic surgery.
Firstly I’ll split plastic surgery into two.
Things where people have been badly disfigured , or maybe they had a breast removed due to cancer etc. Then that is a good thing because it allows people to live normally without social stigmas.
For vanity I can’t understand. It rarely looks good anyway. I don’t really understand vanity at all tbh. I’m not greatly interested...
Day 19 - What do you think about high schools...
Teenagers will have sex. If we tried to stop that it would be like trying to turn the tides. Some hope , bob hope , no fucking hope.
You may as well ensure teenagers are doing it safely. Teenage pregnancy is always bad. Teenage sex can be perfectly fine as long as you’re mature.
I think I’m pretty much packed for india.
I need some AA batteries, I’m waiting for my comfiest pants to come through the wash to pack , and some biodegradable soap. Othewise I’m there.
Airline luggage restriction is 20kg, I’m currently at 11kg with and I quote “Up to 5kg of group kit to carry”
Weight wise I’m fine, quite where I can conjour the space...
India is something like 8 days away which is really starting to stress me.
I let my fitness go to bollocks ‘cause I got lazy , all I can say in ladakhi is hello. And I still haven’t bought everything.
Day 18- What is your view on people who cut.
I think it’s disgusting personally. But I’ve never felt the need to do it, so I can’t really understand the motivations behind. I daresay it’s not much different to people who drink lots when they’ve had a bad time.
I think the argument about it can be attention seeking is true. For some. Not all , there are some that cut just purely because it helps.

No fancy coffin , it’s a waste. Cremation then chucked in the sea. Because that way I’m free. My body can travel all over the world and I like that idea.
Also means there isn’t a grave, and I think graves are bloody depressing things.

Yes. No one has lead a perfect life, so I think if we were all given our time again we’d do things differently. So yes there are definately things I regret.

Well you can’t have sex until 16 , drive until 17 , or vote until 18.
So either 16/17/18 by that age most people are mature enough to make the right decision. The problem comes when people with controlling parents do it purely as an act of rebellion. But that’s not my problem.
