today lots of university lecturers are on strike.
Walking from my lecture home a lady came up to me and asked if I’d like a leaflet about the strikes, I said “No thank you “
In my head I was saying “Fuck off and do some work you lazy feckless dirty unionised bastards”
Turns out I'm not the Mathematician I was 6 months...
I miss my A level subjects,
Not because they were easier , but because I got more variety, and got to do maths just for the sake of maths.
Friday is definitely my favourite day
I wake up at 8 (Because Olivia starts at 9) and whilst she gets ready I carry on dozing in her bed, we leave hers at 9. I come home, usually I sleep again until 10 although today I did some work on my transferable skills essay which is nearly done :D :D :D
Then I have maths followed by Design with Dr Birch which is usually good.
I only have half hour for lunch but seriously how long does it...
My transferable skills essay entitled “What should engineers do about climate change” that I’ve been wrestling with for weeks is now 300 words over my word count, since I had a genius blast last night and demolished the final part.
I just had a lecture with Dr Birch
On failure modes , that is predicting how much load a component can take in different ways and then figuring out if it will break or not.
I was feeling a little sleepy.
But It dawned on me that if I don’t understand this well enough now , then in years to come I will kill somebody. It’s that critical to make designs safe, I gotta do some revision….
It was weird today to not spend the morning on parade for the first time in 4 years, also feel a little bad for not making so much effort for remembrance as I have done before. Also brought home how much I miss scouting.
In other news sold £600 at work today IPC of over 3.5, FUCK YEAH actually hit my targets.
So I went and bought subway and a quicksilver tshirt as a reward :D
So it' remembrance day.
And I find it an important event , it’s important to remember how fucking stupid man can be and how the actions of governments has ridiculous costs in human terms. Also I believe it is important that soldiers are looked after, if we fuck them up by sending them to battle it seems only moral to look after them.
However I really hate other peoples handling of remembrance day. One...

I'M IN LOVE WITH THE USMC
The University of Surrey mountaineering club, As a group it’s just hilarious. Never felt more at home in a group of people since I started explorers, I already see myself becoming an “old fart” that is someone still in the club but one who has left the uni.

Eureka Moments are what make my life worth while
My lab report that I’ve been slaving over for ages was tensile testing , essentially we measured the toughness of 3 metals at 3 different temperatures each.
However from the basic theory our results for two of those metals were wrong.
I spent ages going round and round in circles trying to figure it out, in the end I resigned myself to the fact I’d have to hand it in waffling about...

Climbing contest
So I wasn’t allowed to compete for the prize since it was a contest for people new to climbing not just new to the club.
However if I had been allowed I would have won.
As it was I scored 109/150 with the top scorer getting 140. Of the non-freshers who submitted a score I was 4th , however I know there were plenty who beat me but didn’t bother to turn in their cards.

So I had a reasonably good session tonight even if I was rushing madly to get there :D
Tomorrow I enter my very first bouldering competition , this will be the first time I’ve climbed competitively, I’m not sure what to think about it.
